CHARACTERISTICS
Salbutamol Aerosol is a kind of white suspension mixed with just right quantity of propellant and kept in a pressurised canister with a metered valve system.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION
Salbutamol Aerosol is an adrenomimetic which mainly exerts an effect onβ2 adrenergic receptors, possessing the effect of relaxing bronchial smooth muscle and removing bronchospasm with little influence on cardiovascular system. The inspired aerosol’s effect begins to act in 5 minutes and reaches to its maximum in one hour.
The total effective period lasts for 4-6 hours.
ABSORPTION, DISTRIBUTION AND EXCRETION
After the spraying, aerosol comes down to the lungs along with aspiration. Most of it are swallowed, then discharged from the body chiefly by emiction, only small quantity by defecation.
INDICATIONS
Bronchial asthma, bronchitis with gasp as the main symptom, and bronchospasm related to emphysema.
